Contemporary Jewellery Design
Artist Statement
Delicately folded fabric captured in metal for all time. Skillful manipulation of metal transforms solid, flat silver into gracefully linear folds and undulating forms; creating an air of intriguing elegance.
Profile
Having recently completing my degree in Jewellery and Metal Design at Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art in Dundee I am currently exhibiting my final year work. My degree show work is a series of wrist pieces based on the theme of folding. My objective throughout my honours year was to take my inspiration of the beauty of folding and draping of fabric and to translate this into sheets of metal. My pieces are all single sheets of silver manipulated and folded into new and exciting forms; a series of cuffs which hold a presence on the arm, are uncomplicated and intriguingly elegant.
